Some
illnesses are perceived as much harder to treat than they really are. Asthma
is a good example. Six Ways to Avoid an
Asthma Attack: 1) Low Vitamin C
causes asthma. High-dose vitamin C relieves asthma. Robert Cathcart, M.D.,
recommends a daily vitamin C dosage of between 15,000 to 50,000 milligrams
(mg), divided into eight doses. I have seen this work again and again. (Cathcart, R. F. (1981) Vitamin C, titrating to bowel tolerance, anascorbemia, and acute induced scurvy. Medical
Hypotheses. 7:1359-1376. http://www.doctoryourself.com/titration.html ) He writes: When consumed in regular,
frequent, near-saturation-doses, vitamin C is a powerful antihistamine. http://doctoryourself.com/allergies.html See: Stone,
Chapter 19 discusses asthma. Also see:

2) Smoking around asthmatics is assault, and
smoking around children is child abuse. 3) Stress reduction greatly helps asthmatics. The following studies report reduced airway resistance and
decreased severity of symptoms in persons with bronchial asthma: Honsberger, R. W., and Wilson, A. F. (1973)

Research 21: 278 (Abstract). Honsberger, R. W., and Wilson, A. F. (1973)

of Inhalation Technology 3: 79-80. Wilson, A. F.; Honsberger, R.

need for anti-asthmatic drugs: Graf, D., and Pfisterer, G.

Meditation: A multipurpose tool in clinical practice. General medical
practice, Browne, G. E.; Fougere, D.; Roxburgh, A.; Bird, J.; and Lovell-Smith, H. D. (1983)
Improved mental and physical health and decreased use of prescribed and
non-prescribed drugs through the Transcendental Meditation program. Age of
Enlightenment Medical Council, Christchurch, New Zealand; Heylen
Research Centre, Auckland, New Zealand; and Dunedin Hospital, Dunedin, New
Zealand. 4) Keep your back in
line. For
you, this may mean regular visits to a good chiropractor. For me, it means
yoga, regular exercise, and stretches every day. Easy how-to's
at http://www.doctoryourself.com/backache.html 5) Avoid dairy
products and meat. Eat
a lot of fresh, raw foods such as vegetable salads and fresh fruit. This is a
tried and true naturopathic protocol. 6) Look into
homeopathic remedies for asthma. I’d start with aconitum napthallus (aconite), a microdilution
of the monkshood herb. It is good first aid for an asthma attack. Taking
lots of vitamin C will negate your need for even this natural remedy,
however. Copyright 2001 and prior
